The San Francisco Guide For Wellness

In San Francisco, our self care practices bring together both new technologies and ancient modalities. Here are our five picks for self care in the city by the bay.

Scarlett & Sage

For: fueling a full, custom self care routine in a good vibes apothecary

A combination conscious shop + treatment and learning center, this spot checks all the boxes. Shop natural herbs, skincare, and supplements – along with a well-curated selection of crystals (we personally get ours here), oracle decks and books on everything from astrology to mysticism to plant remedies. They have a diverse schedule of classes monthly and a collective of practitioners focused on energy work, tarot, and herbal medicine. The staff are super knowledgeable and make education a part of the purchase experience.

For: the latest in unique holistic wellness options under one roof

This award-winning, spa offers a plethora of experiences that go beyond the typical treatment menu. Think: posture alignment therapy, infrared and LED light therapy, and the SOMADOME pod restful mind experience – along with some of the more traditional stuff.

Kundalini Yoga Center

For: strengthening your nervous system in a soothing historic space

When we were first introduced to Kundalini, we couldn’t have expected the perspective shifting, walking-on-air experience we’d have after just one session. The practice combines breathwork, aura and chakra strengthening postures, chanting and music – and you leave feeling lighter and brighter. This center has been run by the same husband and wife team since the 70s, students of the founder of Kundalini, Yogi Bajan himself. The history is felt in the walls of the space which feels more like you’re practicing in a warm, mystical home than in a studio. At the end of class you’re served a cup of homemade tea prepared by the director herself.

The Center SF

For: expansive, unique events to awaken mind body spirit

The special events and workshops are what make this tea house + yoga studio combo really shine. The monthly schedule is packed with breathwork sessions, sound baths and new moon intention ceremonies (our personal favorite) and can feature energy work, music, and community building for all the feels.

She creates a zen, relaxed vibe and is super compassionate, informative, and lovely to talk to through treatment.
